Report - Against all Odds

Up in the capital yesterday, 9 men S-Pulse pulled a mini miracle out of the hat. At 9 v 11 away from home with 15 minutes still ahead of us, nobody would have dared dream of getting a result. Step up super sub ex-Tokyo Verdy Toshiyuki Takagi. Ten minutes after coming on he smashed it unstoppably past Gonda to send a disbelieving away end into an explosion of orange ecstasy.

Had the pleasure of bumping into a couple of Brisbane Roar fans after the game over for the ACL match on Wednesday with Tokyo. Will save you fellas a couple of seats on Thursday if you're coming down!

The Orange Army was out in force
I love those inflatable things
The Tokyo number 6 who gifted us our goal
It was a long old last 15 minutes (plus 5 minutes stoppage time)
All smiles at the end

Highlights. The second yellow for Franca was really harsh if you ask me. He jumped, using arms to gain hight. That his hand (not his arm, not his elbow) brushed the Tokyo player's face was unlucky at worst. To give a second yellow is a very clumsy decision by the ref. It was repeated later for the second yellow for Brosque though, so Nishimura is clearly a man with control issues.

Toshiyuki's belter is everything as good as I remember and sent us delirious. Nearly broke the net with that one. All credit to Taka who dinked in a perfect little ball in between the two defenders.

A game to remember!

Absolutely! The moment when Toshiyuki took the ball down and slammed it in right in front of us I'll remember for a long, long time! Ghotbi's reaction in the video says it all!

Nice one Barry, Well done on Friday - good luck on Thursday! Why not join up and leave a post for the travelling Roar fans about the upcoming S-Pa game on the Brisbane Roar Supporters Forum:
Brothers in Orange Puma!

Roon of Brisbane,

Hello and welcome. :) I think I'll do just that. Us boys in bright orange have to stick together! Best of luck on Wednesday.

Cheers, Barry. And thanks for putting the heads-up on the forum.

Any of the lads make it down on Thursday? The Brisbane supporters looked pretty wet and hammered on the telly!

Geez, Kashima looked like a belter of a game, watching online - you guys could easily have been 5-0...

Not that I met, but fair play, it wasn't the easiest trip. Especially when you had Urawa v Yokohama right down the road as well.

Yeah, the Kashima game was a master-class at times. I like the look of us thins season! Will be following Roar when the A League starts up again, btw. Brothers in Orange Puma! BIOP!
